Woodland Boundary Screening

To screen this new terraced garden from a neighbouring property we planted the boundary area with mature hazels and woodland underplanting. This blends with the neighbours planting to give the feel of a natural copse. Hazel is also historically important to this area of the Cotswolds as it was used by local walking stick factories.

Underplanting of English bluebells, fringe cups, purple-leaved cow-parsley, Cyclamen and ferns gives interest for most of the year.

A lovely mature Crataegus specimen has been used at the end of the lawn to provide a focus and further screening.

The screening effect can be managed in future by selectively coppicing the hazels.
